Tech & Toast: Uncorked Vibez - Taking a Moment to Send a Friendly Hello and Introduction!

This week signals the mid point of Mental Health Awareness Month. When you advocate for something all year round, there's not much to talk about on the topic when it's time. Originally, I planned to skip a week of posting, but thought it would be nice to kickstart a mini VLOG Episode to introduce ourselves to you, adhoc. Hopefully this will help us get off to a good start and address any expectations that you might have. If there are any that are unaddressed, please contact us. Consider it an informal hello, early in the a.m. before kickstarting the day with a new programming language I've been working on. Back to the topic at hand!

Who We Are!

Tech & Toast: Uncorked Vibez is a concept that was created by myself and a good friend. The thought was provoked by the many conversations we have on various topics, spanning pain points that arise throughout life. Therefore, why not have these discussions in a way that fosters thought provoking conversations on complex topics with a broader community. More on this in the initial video.

I myself, have a background in technology and enjoy knowledge sharing with individuals who are interested. Although my friend and I, originially connected on the topic of wine, it's not the focus of the name, but rather something that we both enjoy. Tech & Toast is a play on integrating technology and aspects of communications (including community) to bridge the gap on topics of concerns.

Our tagline, uncorking women of all generations, focuses on ageism and other complexities that come with being a woman, mom, and working professional in today's society. Full transparency, corks are used in wine to foster impermeability and elasticity. By definition, impermeability is the ability of "something" to NOT permit passage of some substance. While elasticity refers to an objects ability to revert back to its normal shaped after being stretched or compressed. I will let your mind wander on this subject and come back to it in a later discussion or post.

What We Do!

Uncork women of all generations! No, seriously, we do! I'll dive into this in a later discussion. However, this is done through meaningful and solution oriented discussions. Solution oriented, due to we won't always have the answer. However, it's important to be fully capable to provide individuals with the appropriate resources, information, and direction to identify the appropriate and intended solution. I know, this might sound like a bunch of fluff, but for many of us, we do this naturally and do not pay attention to it. As much as I don't like being formal, this provides us with a bit more formality and structure to improve scalability.

If I revert back to the VLOG discussion in the video referenced above, our goal is to focus on:

  • Self-Improvement

  • Self-Advocacy

  • Self-Empowerment

  • Improved Productivity

  • Knowledge Sharing

Through processes and pipeliness used within the technology and communication sectors. We're still in the stages of formalizing and structuring this a bit more, but have a knack for the concept of working in public. We do not attempt to be or even achieve perfection and hope to foster this thinking and confidence into others.

Where We Plan to Do It!

Right now, we engage in posting within a remote setting and virtual environments. For now, I think that is a great idea to tap into the audiences that may not have immediate access to anything similar. Add to that, wanting to join this women's group that I later found out was limited to a specific location, ugh. We also reside in different states so it helps to keep the connection between the two of us fun and with interesting dialogue about things we are going to talk about anyway.

How We Plan to Go About It!

Remotely for now, through relevant media, conent and platforms. However, a stretch goal would be to formalize something in person. Even if this means redundancy in our respective states. We'll see, I like to speak things into existence. But I also understand how my attention shifts when work calls. Moment of transparency.

We are also sticklers for providing people with what they need and would like to test the waters on catering to topics of interest as our community or following grows. I'm not sure what that looks like, but I work proactively and reactively, on a spectrum this methodology would shift towards the reactive end. Being of service to you all.

As much as writing affords the opportunity to structure thoughts and opinions, video and recording enables more engagement, building rapport and resonates with different audiences in many ways. Therefore, we plan to incorporate both as we find the appropriate platform and cadence that works best for everyone.

When Do We Plan to Do It!

I could not find the "strikethrough" formatting option to cross this out, so I just underlined it. We'll operate as we see fit until something changes that. One of us is terrible with working at a structured cadence, and the other is overly structured. I won't say who is who, but I am positive if you have been following along, you've already developed this perspective.

Some Final Thoughts For the Journey

Buckle Up! There is no method to our madness. Just two creative minds who were looking for another avenue to share some of our explorations and dialouge that occurs during our conversations. While we do not attempt to achieve perfection, we do attempt to:

  • Give empathy with perspectives we are not able to relate to.

  • Agree to disagree when necessary.

  • Share information even when it feels like we are not sure. A lack of engaging can be the result of many things.

  • Welcome and advocate for allies.

  • Do our best not to focus solely on the workplace.

  • Do our best to make it fun, engaging, and accessible.

To end this topic of discussion, instead of showing up as your best self, we want you to show up as the self that makes you feel most confident and comfortable, so we are able to reach the real you. With that being said, we hope you have a marvelous weekend, and welcome any words of encouragement, complex topics that you'd like to hear about or a solution to, and if nothing more, simply identifying a lesson learned from a piece of content is good enough.
